Ermias Asghedom, better known to the Hip Hop Community as Nipsey Hussle, was fatally shot in Los Angeles, CA this past Sunday March 31.

The incident took place outside of Nipsey's Marathon Clothing store, located near the Crenshaw neighborhood he grew up in.

LAPD officials have identified 29 year old Eric Holder as the suspect for this murder. Police say that Nipsey and Holder knew one another, having conversation together at the store before Holder left and later returned with a handgun to shoot Nipsey.

Despite the negative energy that surrounded the actions of his death, Nipsey's life, career, and accomplishments should be celebrated. Many fellow rappers, celebrities, athletes, etc. have flooded social media with tributes to Nipsey and thanking him for not only his musical contributions, but the changes he was making in his community.

Nipsey was coming off the best commercial year of his career with the release of his first official studio album Victory Lap. His album debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200 and received a Best Rap Album nomination at the 61st Grammy Awards this past February.

Nipsey was a father of two children, a seven year old daughter from a previous relationship, and a two year old son with actress and longtime girlfriend Lauren London.

We at The Lunch Table would like to send our condolences, thoughts, and prayers to all of the colleagues, friends, and loved ones that are grieving from this tragic loss. We would also like to thank Nipsey Hussle for not only the music he worked hard to give us, but for laying a blueprint on how to make a difference in the community. By purchasing property and giving employment opportunities to the very people in his community, Nipsey Hussle was the embodiment of being the change you wish to see.
