Very soon Marijuana Breathalyzers will be a tool that will detect if an individual has been smoking within 2 hours and will be used by law enforcement in the year 2020. Driving while high can be just as dangerous and illegal as driving under the influence. As more and more states have been making weed legal, I believe more people are likely to get behind the wheel high. Marijuana has been legalized for recreational use in 11 states plus the District of Columbia; 33 states plus D.C. have approved medical marijuana.
According to Essences Magazine researchers at the University of Pittsburgh have also developed a prototype for a marijuana breathalyzer, but it must undergo further testing before it’s ready for manufacturing and use by law enforcement.
So who is this going to affect the most? That will be African Americas, reported by the American Civil Liberties Union Blacks are nearly four times more likely than whites to be arrested for Marijuana possession. Now that this breathalyzer will soon be in effect, people should make better decisions and not drive while high.
